Fiasco

I have two comments regarding this question.

Firstly: I wouldn't use the English word 'catastrophe' as a synonym for 'fiasco'. The best way I can explain my objection would be to say that to my mind, 'catastrophe' is to tragedy what 'fiasco' is to farce.

Secondly: the Italian word fiasco refers to a type of bottle, "usually with a round body and bottom, which is partially or completely covered with a close–fitting straw basket" (to quote Wikipedia). In other words, not the basket (or "holder") itself.

Wikipedia goes on to explain that the basket allows the bottle to have a round bottom, which is much simpler to make by glass blowing.
